Assigment nº 2 Modernist Period

1.Which two readings did you complete from the readings list provided?

I read the Wasteland,Eliot,T.S and Seven Pillars of Wisdom,Lawrence,T.E

2.Based on these readings comprare and contrast with 3 examples with the themes ppt presentatio in class from the modernist culture and literature.

the wasteland
shows its shits between satire and prophecy,its abruts and unnannounced changes of speaker,location and time,its intimidating summoning up of a vast and dissonant range of cultures and literature.

the poem has nonetheless become familiar touchtone of modern literature,among its famous phrases are:
" April is the cruellest month"
" I will show you fear in a handful of dust"

dramatic monologue follows the pattern of music hall,musical fugue in which many voices enter throughout the piece re-stating the themes. its moves from different voices and makes use of phrases in foreing languague that is the most distinctive feature of the poem`s style.

It has a biblical interpretation and has relevance to the arab revolt.

Seven Pilars of Wisdom
Laurence described this version as "hopelessly bad" in literary terms, but historically it was "substancially complete and accurate".

Laurence was in a state of severe mental turmoil: the psycological after of a war were taking their toll as were his exhaustion from the literary endeavorous of the past three years.
It was time that the re-enhsted in the armed forces under an assumed name.

Literary merits aside, however, producing the subscribers´edition had left Laurence facing bankruptoy. he was forced to undertake an even more stringeent prunning to producee a version for sale to the general public, this was the 1927 revolt in the desert.


3. Do you feel the works you read are very good or excellent representations of modernist literature? why? why not?

I think they are properly accurate for the period, that was completed of conflict in many part of the world and every problem drove war.


4.Would you recommend the readings to friends or family? why? why not?

As I said before in the other assigment I only recommed this kind of literarture to peolple who like english,history and ovbiously to whom want to increase their knowledge.
